what happened yesterday?

About 4pm yesterday on the main road leading to Alsancak there were ambulances and police racing up the road and the traffic was at a standstill. This was still going on 1 1/2 hours later as it was getting dark the traffic was still slowly moving. Nothing has been on the TV News. Anyone know what had happened.

There was a bad road accident there.

Friends of mine took just under 3 hours to get from Girne through Alsancak as it was so far backed up. It appeared to be two large lorries and a car on the corner by the Citrus Tree Hotel. Can't be any more specific as I wasn't there myself.
