Does anybody know the outcome of the consultation regarding expats that have paid N.I for 7 years, whether they are now entitled to return to the UK for medical treatment. I believe the consultation concluded last August.

Thanks for the links, nothing really conclusive. I wondered whether anybody who had returned to the UK for medical treatment would be in a position to confirm any difficulties they may have experienced or otherwise.
I heard that somebody who did this had to show the receptionist utility bills in their name to evidence they lived in the UK.

This March I was in the UK and got free NHS treatment and yes I told the doctor that I lived in TRNC, that I had not lived in the UK for years as I was living and working overseas.
He asked me for my national insurance number and said he was treating me as a walki in patient, he also refered me to a hospital where I had several visits, scans blood tests etc all free of charge.
