I recently had an email from a lady called "Faith" in the Ivory Coast. Like many people in West Africa she had some money left by her Father that she couldn't access without the help of my bank account.

Poor girl, she offered to share it with me if I could help.

Often get these sort of emails,I just delete them. I wonder how they get the email address
Recently I have been getting missed calls on the phone, just rings once & comes up as a missed call.
I've had 6 in all with the prefix +3069.but the following nos are all different. I don't recognise the numbers so have never rung back. Feel sure it's some sort of scam but where did they get my phone no from ?!!!! Just a bog standard phone which I use to text friends & the occasional phone call.
Has anyone else received these sort of calls?

Lots of calls with one ring. If you call back it takes all your credit! I had one today, just ignore them.

This rule applies to all media so landlines and mobiles as well. Personally unless it is someone I know I would never ring back out of curiosity, if it is important they will ring again.

The mobile phone companys sell their data bases thats how they get the numbers. I think its illegal in some countries to do that.

Yes, it is that simple Deniz. And the numbers are usually computer-dialled, only connecting to a human if you answer back in time.

Loads of them here in Germany, the numbers all seem genuine, so are probably cloned.

A bit of related information here.
My friend in the South uses his tablet via wifi through his provider to reach my 0090 mobile here in the North and leaves a text message so we know the time to have our skype on.

Each time, his message comes up with the sender prefix 0044 and a different number for the rest of the digits. - Unrelated to his sim card in the device which is an 00357, and never the same number appears again.

You cannot call them back as they are outgoing number only.

For info, if you get any unexpected ones like this, they are a block of reserved UK telephone numbers for providers, in this case those who are routing wifi calls from the South, through a Uk server and out on the UK phone network to reach the North.

Elkiton could you explain if this is good or bad? Should we be wary?
