Bringing a large rug?

Hi,

We recently moved into a small flat here in the UK.

We now have a quite expensive large rug/carpet 200x209 cms which is really lovely and almost new-but nowhere to put it.

It would be great in the apartment over there-but how to get it from A-B?

I thought about taking it on a plane as oversize baggage but as we get a taxi from Larnaca it won't fit in the taxi (no flights to Ercan from the North of England).

Is there any way to send something this large?

Is it a dumb idea? Seems such a shame to give it away when we could make great use of it.

Rosie

Why not fly Turkish Air from Manchester to Ercan? We brought a large rug over last year - 3m x 3m my husband wrapped it up and told them it was 'camping equipment' i.e. a tent! no problem & no charge!

If you use the right taxi firm you will get it in a taxi. Try Bellapais rent a car they usually pick up in big Mercedes Vito people carriers, tell them what you're bringing over and they'll make sure the vehicle is big enough. Bellapais pick up from Ercan AND LCA.

Thanks for some good ideas.

Just have to find a way to get it TO the airport now. We usually travel by public transport-as we come for six weeks airport parking is quite expensive.

I'm sure National Express coaches would put it in their hold-not sure about MegaBus-(Newcastle to London-£10)

Manchester Airport is a pain to get to from here (Newcastle). It's easier and cheaper to fly BA via Newcastle/Heathrow.
It's even cheaper to fly BA than Thomas Cook direct from Newcastle Airport.

Newcastle Airport is really rubbish and very expensive-they used to have flights to Stansted-but not any more. I think their destinations have reduced by about half.
