Has the back been diagnosed at all? Some lower back pains can only be treated with drugs. Is the pain worse in the morning or after sitting down for a while and does it ease after time and moving/exercise? Should this be the case then I would suggest a visit to the rheumatoid clinic. I only say this as for some time I thought I had a disc problem, indeed some years ago it was a disc that was causing the pain as it caused muscle spasm and was going down my leg (sciatica). However the lower back pains I have suffered for the last 2-3 years were behaving differently and are due to psoriatic arthritis.
Just a thought but good luck to your partner anyway.

I have an intermittent back problem and went to Kamiloglu Clinic. I had two x-rays taken (TL60) and saw a specialist (TL80). I had injections of pain relief/muscle relaxant for a period of time (I do not want surgery unless absolutely necessary) and glad to say it is fine now. Back problems hardly ever go away, they sort of go into remission. I would go and check what is wrong before having someone manipulating my back.

I agree carrierbag. The link in my previous post is a bit misleading as it suggests that Can Cobanoglu is an osteopath - he is an orthopedic surgeon. However, unlike some in TRNC, he does not suggest unnecessary surgery. Sounds like Kamiloglu is worth checking out - I've been trying to get my husband to see Dr Can but Kamiloglu is a bit closer.

I would say that undiagnosed back pain should be investigated. A friend had back pain and it turned out to be a small cancerous growth around one of the nerves at the base of the spine. Only diagnosed by a neurosurgeon after an MRI scan.

Must say I have a recurring back problem, and Can Cobanoglu is my saviour, cannot praise him enough, my problem is a disc (MRI confirmed) and I do not want surgery unless absolutely necessary, and touch wood, he can keep it under control, strongly recommend!

He is situated behind the Lefkosa Lemar. If you drive up the side of Lemar (the shop and car park on your right), turn right at the end of the building, take 2nd left (I think) you should see his clinic (house) to the right (North Easterly direction). There were signs on the road so keep an eye out for them.
He does a walk in clinic from 9am to 12 noon Monday to Saturday and appointments only in the afternoon but probably best to check by phone before you go. Tel 0392 223 4800 or 0392 223 4232, email is
drcan@kibris.net, website
http://www.arsarthro.com.tr according to his business card.
