Yet again mail problems in Ozankoy. I was waiting for an important letter. It was posted in the UK on 1st April, duly arrived and was stamped in Lefkosa on 9th April. There it sat until it was delivered to my Ozankoy mail box on 24th April( missing 2 Thursday delivery dates) any ideas why this keeps happening??Asking in the Muhtars office results in the usual North Cyprus shrug!!

Government run snail mail services are suffering all over the world because they are losing more and more money every day in order to run the service, and Cyprus is no exception.
I really find it fruitless to complain about it, as the projection is that it will only get worse in the future. Post offices in many villages has already been shut down alltogether, with delivery days becoming less and less frequent.
I suggest you to adjust to whats coming. My advise is to get a box as close to lefkosa as possible if you receive frequent mail or switch to a professional courier such as dhl or ups for important documents/packages.
K.

I see a business prospect for somebody to be doing private mail forwarding (possibly through an address in the south)...

I have a PO box in Kyrenia instead of Karsiyaka and find most mail is arriving there a day after it is in Lefkosa. Better than waiting the extra time for it to get out here, and not too far for you to go from Ozankoy.

My husband has just received a letter from his pension people in the UK stating:-
Some mail has recently been sent to you at the address on this letter and this as been returned to us as undeliverable. Please contact the Pensions service centre as soon as possible to advise whether or not your personal details have changed. As a security measure, if we do not hear from you in the next 10 working days your pension will be stopped.
So not only did we not receive some of our mail (Catalkoy) it was returned to sender as undeliverable, yet this letter managed to get to this address.
