Lots of information can be found in the weddings forum of this web site.

Lots of wedding planners here who can advise, or you can have a relative arrange it for you. All is possible. You must first contact the Kaymakan (registry office) in Girne, and find a venue and then if you wish a blessing, approach the Chaplain at the church. Or, if you want it all done for you, then the wedding planners are all excellent and will help you (for a small fee, of course).

If you are Turkish Cypriot then a blood test will be required, but if not, then papers must be filed in |London if you are a U.K. citizen. but again, the info is all out there. Suffice it to say 'Yes you can' is the answer.

If you want details of legal requirements, I can send you what I know, but as I say, better still talk to the experts -= the wedding planners.

There are details hewre and also in KibKom Times of planners.

And I reckon you will have made a right choice.

Maybe somebody can confirm the following which was related to me by a friend.

He is English and been living here for 11 years. When he wanted to get married he was told he must go to the TRNC office in London to get certain papers stamped and he must be accompanied by 2 witnesses who have known him for the last 5 years. He has no family in the UK now and all his friends who would qualify live here. Faced with the cost of flying 3 people to London and staying in hotels for at least a couple of days, he gave up on the idea. What really angered him was that this only applies to UK citizens - his intended bride was Korean and it didn't apply to her.

If this is true then why are we being singled out?

There are lawyers here that will do the paper work, but of course you need topay them, but may be cheaper than all the air fares to U.K plus hotel fees and transport within U.K. But again a wedding planner can tell you, or get a Turkish speaking friend to check with the Kaymakan in Girne.

If you was born in the uk you need the paper work from the uk to prove you are not married there, a family member can get these for you, as my dad got them for me and had them sent to me. Then you need to get a nikah memuru here to register you which you will need paper work from the muhtar to also prove you address and that your single here. You can get a lawyer here to sort the paper work out from the uk but it takes a while for them to do it and expensive, if you have family living in the uk that will be coming out it is easier to get them to do it, my personal opinion. The registerer i used also can do it any were you like, i did mine at home for example it doesn't have to be some were they want. If you need a number for a registerer here i have one that i can give you.

Alternative could be to explore getting married in the South and have the reception in the north.
