Is it safe to leave your batt in your Laptop all the time, as when it is on my lap for along time it gets quite hot

I'm not too sure, but I think you need to make sure that there's enough air circulating to keep your laptop cool, so perhaps try to get a position where your computer can get better air circulation. BUT I had to take my laptop in recently as it kept seizing up and getting very hot, turned out whatever is inside that regulates heat had packed in, so I got a service and part replaced quite cheaply through Laconic in Alscancak. Might be an idea just to get it checked out before it started throwing hissy fits like mine did.

I leave my battery in, but now that the temperature is rising, the built in fan seems to be working overtime. I was advised to get a laptop cooler, this is a stand which raises the laptop and has a fan connected to keep it cool. They have two sizes at the computer shop opposite the teachers hotel, price quoted was 30tl.

I don't know whether they are available here but I use a laptop stand which has a built-in fan and I haven't had a problem in the 2 years I've been using it.

Last year I bought a "Coolpad" from the DVD shop in Alsancak.
If I remember correctly I paid 20TL for it and it really does stop my laptop from overheating!

Apologies, I should have posted a better location for anyone interested in purchasing one!

It is the DVD shop in the row of shops where Cafe Britain, the money exchange shop and the dry cleaners is. Also where the car wash is on the main road, more of less opposite Iktisatbank.

Hi Marion,

We had the same problem with one of our laptops being 17" so I bought the following:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/BlueLounge-CF-0 ... B00168RGE8

Not expensive and not a fan but it does help to keep the laptop aired underneath and for very little cost.
