it is thought that the arson attack at the North Cyprus Football Federation's building in Lefkoşa, in the early hours of Monday morning, was because KKTC played "Iraqi Kurdistan" in the final of the VIVA World Cup* on Saturday.
Yesterday, Hasan Sertoğlu, president of the football federation told reporters that the reason for sending a team to the tournament, which this year was staged in northern Iraq, was to make KKTC better known in other parts of the world, and other than that there was no political aim. He added "in front of 20 000 spectators we sang our national anthem and raised our flag."
