Has anyone got a number for someone who can do the work which enables toilet paper to be flushed down the loo?

If it helps you either need a macerator which chops it all up before sending it down the pipe of you need to upgrade your soil pipe to 100mm.

Toilet paper can clog up macerators, so this may not solve your problem.

Macerators are designed to take toilet paper, if you go down this route try and get a Saniflo if you can.

I understand macerators will handle toilet paper other tissues and baby wipes can be a problem.

I would suggest you read up on macerators, toilet paper can be a problem, which I found out through experience

It's not just pipe size! Our place was built 7 years ago using 4" (110mm) soil pipe and was not fit for purpose. Apart from pipe size it's the stupid prehistoric concrete manholes they build into the drainage systems over there. Someone should also inform Cypriot builders about the laws of gravity i.e. pipes need to slope down and away from the outlet and not up and towards it!!

Luckily the standard 4" (110mm) pipe is compatible with UK fittings so I ripped all ours out and replaced with UK spec fittings and proper plastic inspection chambers. Hard work but not rocket science and no more smells or blockages and can flush loo paper to our hearts content

Guru, you forgot to mention that flushing paper down the loo to your hearts content will require your cesspit to be emptied on a regular basis. I have been here 9 years and work in the plumbing business, I have mine emptied every 2 years as a matter of fact, if I leave it longer it tends to back up and cause me problems.

Know what you mean about the concrete manholes I have three in a line going one way but in the third It practically does a turn with the pipe going back in the other direction and passing the first by about 50cm. I lined them all with a brushed mix of soft sand and cement which improved flow so they do not cause problems and thankfully here seems to be an adequate fall. Always flushed paper and in 8 years never had the tank emptied.

Interesting reading about macerators it seems some deal better than others, we have 2 in a house in the UK that have never been trouble and a friend has a b & b in Plymouth that swears by them so perhaps its what you buy.

Never look at the food processor the same way again though!

We don't have a cess pit fortunately as we are on a communal site which has a bio digester treatment plant so I just flush and forget and leave the maintenance of the treatment plant to the management company

Basically, in Cyprus it appears that everything that's a big no no with regard to drainage design.... they do!!

My house has been finished since 2000. Rented it to holiday makers for 5 years, until we came to live in 2005.As far as I know no macerator. I don't flush paper down, but since I have lived here,the pit has been emptied once in 9 years, not too bad for Cyprus plumbing, must have done something right.!
