On the home page of www.kibkom.com you will find important numbers of services within the TRNC. I would like to ask all kibkom forum members to help in creating a special list for Ex-Pats living in the TRNC, that will make life much easier for newcomers to the island.

List for below, Departments, Address, Tel, Email - required and that can be built on:

Applying for driving licenses
MOT
Renewing Passport
National Service (Enquiries for those with TC parents wanting to move over to TRNC)
What needs to be paid and where when you have a house, ie rates, water bill etc..
Applying for citizenship in the TRNC
Where to get permit to Cross border to the RoC
If renting out property - taxes on income
Road speed fine payments. (for the naughty)
English speaking Solicitors
Where to transfer property deeds

Please add to this list with a list of contacts that you feel is important to ex-Pats out here.

This list will be invaluable to many, you know what it is like when you first come over and the problems encountered.
Thank you in advance for you co-operation.
regards,

Great idea. Will do what I can when I can. Hope everyone else does, and maybe BRS can help too. Anything to help people's lives go with ease is a great idea.
Off out into the Easter Day sunshine. Byee

As far as I know in terms of residency for Ex Pats, the government has not accepted applications for Permanent Residency since late 2007. Those with Permanent Residency who have applied for Citizenship (at least this is what I was told on application), no foreigners of any nationalty are being accepted at present. That also was in late 2007. being a Permanent Resident gives you no rights other than not having to renew every 2 years. Hope this is accurate and helpful.

Soner - I dont know if this is of use to you.
British Residents Society web site - http://www.brstrnc.com - this gives a lot of general info for someone coming over here, there are "open" pages and then closed pages for members only - but there is still a reasonable amount of info! After all it only 25tl to join and 10 tl joining fee and then you can get into all the info and the discount list for members which in one go can save you the years fee!!! (Says she who's just bought some paint!!)

What a good idea Soner.
I think it will be even more helpful with information on how and where to find XX. A phone number is great, but often there is no reply, the person answering does not speak English or says 'just a moment', Often resulting in deep silence.
As for solicitors: I would be very carefull with recommandations, and they all speak English by the way. There are a few 'trustworthy', as for the rest
Recommandations from members can be useful, BUT again 'avucat XX might be doing a good job if it is will, but when it comes to other matters perhaps not so good. The British Hgh Commissions list is useful, and yes there are a few more that, perhaps, should be on that list.

yes, I know, I know my School English

You go to the tax office together with the buyer, seller. And pay when the transfer is in place, not to have the surprice that there might be some sort of problems, like an injunction.
Some goes for any ony wanting to buy a boat or even a yacht, but then it is the harbor office.
