My husband ordered some of the liquid for his E Cigarette and when I went to Girne Post Office to collect it I was informed that they are in fact illegal here. The lady then rang the Health Dept in Nicosia who said that in order to try and obtain the parcel I would have to apply for a permit to use the E Cigarette and they might or might not issue me with one.

The lady in the Post Office said the E Cigarettes were "unhealthy" and pointing out that real cigarettes are sold in the TRNC didnt seem to help.So for other users it doesnt seem worth trying to get any posted here.

Has the lady in the Post Office decided they are illegal I wonder, or has Girne Post Office decided unilaterally. It's going to be difficult because I've seen quite a few being used here - German and Swedish holiday makers, plus ex-pats who are trying to wean themselves off cigarettes.

Great, I know where to get the liquid. Anyone know where you can buy the "illegal" gadget to put the liquid into? One day I will stop - and that day grows closer all the time................

I think you will find that it is illegal to import pharmaceuticals by post. Think that goes for electrical items and certain other things.

The below is what happenned a couple of years ago when we tried to get some " womens " supplements :

Well I finally got my Viamins, or the boss`s.

For the benefit of others, when I found the Govt.pharmacy in Lefkosa, thanks to directions from Nostradamus, the man to see, Kasim, insisted that the postman at Girne wrote on the form that the tablets had come direct from the USA, ( even though, i hasten to add I had the invoice with me and the front address label from the package clearly showing that )

The customs lady at Girne kindly wrote the line as requested ( with a wry smile on her face ) and i duly went back to Lefkosa and Kasim authorised the delivery.

But as has been said previously I WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO DO IT AGAIN,

he asked me , Please to not order any more.

So after 2 visits I got my pills. But beware..............they are not happy to do it.

They actually changed the law after we had ordered them.
It is O.K. to bring in a suitcase from the U.K. or from the South but not by post.

Hope this helps.
