Stolen Manhole Covers

My neighbour had 2 manhole covers,(1 telephone the other Electric complete with cast iron surrounds), removed from the pavement in front of his property in Zambak Soc, Esentepe late yesterday morning. The villas are located overlooking Alkan Holiday village. Ironically the cheeky so and so knocked on his door asking for a glass of water which he gave. He didn't realise until this morning that they had removed the covers and thrown them onto the back of a dark coloured flat bed truck which already had some scrap metal on there. The guy who asked for the water was of small build, darkish skin and looked Turkish.

If any one saw such a vehicle in the area yesterday could they please contact Esentepe police (0392 8236322) or post here any information and we will pass it on. These things are not cheap to replace. In the region of TL500 each, so watch out in case they fancy yours!!!

Thanks Dropshort - we live quite near and will keep a look out. They are welcome to try and pinch ours - the dogs would allow them in (not)!

It was in fact a light coloured (white) flat bed van. Spotted by the foreman and his helper of Sea Cliff Villas at around 11.00am with scrap on it.

This happened to us once in Ozankoy so now only use cheap plastic ones that you risk life and (especially) limb if you walk on them in error.
