When are they going to sort out parking for the Sat Market !!! This is the second time in a month I have failed to get in. Unfortunately I cannot walk too far otherwise I would have parked down the road, which is also causing problems for other traffic in the area.

perhaps might be better for you if you go about 11 - 11.30. I went today just after 10 and as you say bedlam but when I left at 11.15 parking spaces were plentiful.

There is not much the market organisers can do as that first car park is now under the control of GAU. The previous 2 Saturdays it was reportedly closed because of furniture deliveries and this week because it has been newly tarmaced - no doubt next week they will be painting the white lines and it will be closed again.

Perhaps the market has outgrown the Lambousa venue and it is time that they moved. The Lemar by the Golden Lady has lots of room and some covered stalls set up - I would think it could accomodate them although personally I just don't like that junction now and I think it is dangerous. Or why not the Girne market which appears to only be used on Wednesdays and has all the facilities they could dream of. But I guess it's up to the stall holders to get together and work something out.

But if things carry on as now then I think they will see their business slowly disappearing.

something needs to be done as it will only get worse in the coming months, we park on the coast road ( by cabin car park) and walk its a lot less stressful. they should stop cars parking on the access road to the market.

We apologise for the temporary inconvenience at the Lambousa Saturday Market these past few weeks. Twice the main car-park has been closed and the other time was of slightly limited access.

The disruptions have been caused by finishing work to the renovations on the Chateau Lambousa by GAU, particularly the delivery of furnitures and the re-asphalting of the main car-park. Both GAU and we are sorry for this but such works are unfortunately unavoidable in any given project of this magnitude and, we stress, only temporary.

Naturally, we hope that disruptions will be finished with as soon as possible, though we are assured that any painting of white lines would not necessitate the closing of the car-park.

The Lambousa Market venue is approximately six time larger than the Lemar stalls area and, when the re-asphalting is complete, we offer approximately double the on-site parking that Kyrenia Market area can, so we're actually better placed than both (our tenancy agreement with GAU includes provisions for use of the car-park on market days and during other functions). Too, we have recently prepared stall and parking expansion plans as well as submitted proposals for another access road.

Again, our apologies for the temporary disruptions the renovation works have caused.

Trusting to have advised,

Lambousa Market

As Gordon says, it's only temporary. I think most of us realized that at some point they would be tarmacing the car park and it would therefore be closed, while it dried. GAU are doing so much to Lamboussa, I think as far as disruption goes to the market sellers and customers, it has not been bad at all. With all the rain we have had this past week, it no doubt slowed things down a bit for them. It will all be finished soon, and it is already looking great inside. I think just a little bit of patience is needed.

If people parked correctly instead of blocking lanes etc etc I'm sure we could all get in! Gordon had to have a parking attendant to ensure lanes were not blocked but people still decide to ignore him..... Well done Lambousa for all your efforts in getting this sorted, it's not you that should be criticised but the inconsiderate people that create the fiasco.....

I agree with Rosiesmidge. Stop people parking along the access road. Put bollards out and have the marshalls there instead of the main car park. Easily done and prevents the grid lock And bad tempers.

If you think Lambousa parking is bad, you should try Girne's Wednesday market. Absolute chaos while they are doing the renovations to the original market place. Can everybody just try to deal with things while the owners/managers are trying to make things better for us all in the long run.....
