Yesterday my husband took me to another petshop in girne to get a few bits n bobs. It was our first time to this shop as we were passing by.
And I was so shocked to see a big cage outside with all birds mixed inside together.
Zebra finches
Budgies
Cockatiels
Parrots
Flightless birds at the bottom.
The birds were stressed and being pecked at by other and some were dead.
One flightless bird (don't know their names) at the bottom on the cage was being pecked on the back of its bloody head from other birds.
I didn't like what I saw and the man just said oh its no problem having birds mixed together.

That's terrible - is there not a government department that would check on these shops?

I don't know,
But I don't think they care really by the reaction I got from the man as he just gave a smile and said no problem.
I know animals are not supposed to all like each other as its nature but I'm sure it's stupid to put all mixed birds in the same cage ? I maybe wrong.

Oh my gosh that is terrible. No. they should have been separated. only common birds together. There has to be a department that regulates animals here!

Is this pet shop on the road past the back of the Pia Bella hotel towards the traffic lights? There doesn't seem to be any department responsible for this sort of cruelty. You see dogs for sale outside pet shops!!

Contact KAR and get the phone number of the bird people.........it's something like Kuskar. They look after and protect birds.

One of our Mods i.e. Marion is closely involved with Kuskor, I'm sure she will be able to put you in touch with the correct people.

Just mentioning, there was a new law or rule about pet owners in Turkey about taking better care...What about pet shops!?!?!?!? hey should be #1 in the examinations view. poor animals. I really so wish I had a lot of money to save a lot.

But I can't see how they can do anything. And all pet shops are the same really with different problems.
But having birds all mixed together is very odd to me.
