Giving some impartial travel advice to someone requesting info about the North has resulted in this when I tried logging on

ttoli, not quite sure, when giving impartial travel advice to someone on the North, you went on a South Forum. Or am I missing something here?

Sophie, ttoli responded to a person asking for information about going to the North for a trip from the South. The forum is a Cyprus forum and some of the contributors are, sometimes, a bit tetchy. There are contributors from all forums frequenting all forums.

Ah, now I understand, it didn't read the same to me, sorry. I had a peep on the Forum myself, at least the mine disaster is being discussed and the contributors are all very sympathetic, which is as it should be, regardless.

Being a frequent visitor to the south what strikes me as odd is the lack of 'Cyprus' flags. All I see is Greek flags. Quite a contrast to the north, here you will see KKTC flags and amongst hotel and conference centres all European flags including Greek flags.

I used to write posts in that forum as "bigOz" until 3-4 years ago (for around 5 years. That was when there was some heated but sensible political discussion between Greek and Turkish Cypriots - bar couple of English living in South who were more racist against Turks than the GCs themselves. The actual form administrators are now all ELAM members - the fanatic Right wing minority who still preach union with Greece and hate anything Turkish. Nowadays the posts are extremely racist and can get very rude
There are couple of Greeks posing as Turkish Cypriots (Kikapu one of them) arguing against anything sensible put forward in favor of North Cyprus. In short, it has turned into a very fanatic Greek nationalist forum where one can no longer hold any sensibşe discussions. Many of the normal thinking average Greek Cypriots with whom one could argue things sensibly have since stopped posting and so have I together with couple of friends of mine.
My advice is; keep away from that forum and forget about the crocodile tears about any disasters in Turkey! It is all an act, they love Turkish people as much as they love their poo after a very hot curry! As self admitted ELAM (A minority movement that has its roots in Greece) most of the GC posters believe that a good Turk is a dead Turk. A forum that is a total waste of time full of wind up merchants. Keep away and stay healthy!
But if you insist on visiting this forum then I propose you read the posts of, and give strong support to "Paphitis" who is a True Cypriot (albeit a GC) with great deal of political knowledge who truely sees Turkish Cypriots as his fellpw countrymen/women with equal rights.
