We will be running further guided trips to this intriguing village on the last Sunday of June (29th), July (27th) and August (31st).

Lourijina (Akıncılar) has been closed to foreigners due to having to travel through an army camp to gain access. However, with special permission of the army, we are now able to offer a guided trip for 45tl which includes a lunch of ‘Firin Kebab’ (excluding alcoholic drinks) which must be the best on the island! We can offer chicken or vegetarian alternatives for those who do not eat lamb.

These trips also include a visit to Kirklar Turbesi (The Tomb of Forty).

For reservations please email: tulipscarole@yahoo.com with:

Your name (as it appears on your passport) and of each person in your group
Your passport number and of each person in your group
Your telephone number
Your choice of meal and of each person in your group

These trips have been extremely popular so due to the limited number of spaces available, we will be taking bookings on a first come, first served basis.

Sorry but we do have to take payment at the time of booking or as soon as possible afterwards.

Pick up by minibus will be at 9.30am at CreditWest Bank, Catalkoy and you will be returned there at approx 4pm.

Please remember to bring your passports (without these you will be refused access at the army camp gates!), cameras, sun tan lotion, water and hats!

All money raised from these trips goes to Help Those With Cancer Association/Tulips.

Did it today in a group of ten and can thoroughly recommend it. Fascinating village history/architecture with modern houses through to dilapidated ruins. Very friendly villagers - well those we met were anyway.

tomsteel - glad you enjoyed the trip and thank you for positive posting on here.

It really is a lovely village and you feel like you are stepping back 30 years in time when you get off the bus, it is so peaceful and calm there.

Did it last October, enjoyed it so much I am doing it again 29th June I loved the shop with the ledger written at the time that Brits were in charge!!Showing purchase in English such as a gallon of petrol. So much to see, I could have stayed in there for much longer, but had to move on.

Owl Lady, glad you enjoyed the trip enough to go back, we have many that are doing the same thing!

The shop that you are talking about is part of Raziye's home with the family running a small market from there many years ago plus many other things and yes up the road they also ran the petrol station. It is absolutely wonderful that she has made it into a small museum with so many interesting things to see.
