Chinese Boats are also junk
Western leaders understand the Chinese Economic boom but seem devoid of ideas of how to compete with it. World retail outlets are overwhelmed by junk goods including, tools, machinery, electrical goods, toys, clothing, food etc many of which are also downright dangerous. Alarming when supermarket best sellers are Pot Noddles. It seems that anyone with a tin wok, gallons of oil, seeds from a swamp, seaweed, raw fish, and a few paper lanterns etc can deliver up a gastronomic delight of instant indigestion and a colesterol burst at exhorbitant prices. Finding retail outlets which sell goods fit for purpose are increasingly hard to find. Perhaps we should fight back by exporting to them chocolate frying pans, ash trays for motorcycles, and the like. Have just finished my prawn curry lunch so must now find my Lipitor pills !

The Chinese economic boom is not all its cracked up to be,they are feeling the serious economic turndown as well, some of their banks are reportedly trying to retrieve some of their invested money out of the Eurozone, but with difficulties,India is also feeling the pinch,GDP down this year to 5.6%,last year was 9.4%,but back to the original post, when Japan had their boom years, the world was flooded with crappy products, but as the saying goes,if no one bought the crappy products,no one would make them!
Poor and content is rich enough!

Davpat. Totally agree. It takes a lot of resolve to shun the goods as many of the retail outlets have no alternative, better choice. Stocks of Chinese tat are almost absolute.
Edi. Yes, chocolate woks too, and dud fireworks, left handed cabbages, spent cartridges, and any other crap which will go into shipping containers in quantities which will resolve the Western World's land fill problems.
