Can I have advice on where the best locations are in TRNC to rent and still have easy interaction with other Expats, markets, fairs, activities, shops, social activities etc., if one did not have transport and therefore reliant on bus, taxi or foot to get around.

Without a car you will probably be better off renting in girne. The rents are a bit more expensive but you can walk into town or catch a bus etc. Buses stop near pine bay for the car boot sales, lambousa, lemar ,wednesday market etc

annanirvanna. Did you manage to get your trip out to NC you promised yourself in 2012? I don't think much has changed since then you had the longest post running then asking for advice.

Yes annanirvanna I am sure that all your questions must have been answered previously by very many people why don't you look back at your previous posts.

Firstly thank you for the kind responses. Woodspeckie, did not manage the trip yet due to unforeseen circumstances, but still hoping to get over to see NC with a view to relocation.
Kedikat2903 thank you for the kind offer and will keep it in mind and have noted what you say about Girne.
How188, yes that is us - still in the Sinai & it has gotten very bad here since last year. Been very nasty here in Sinai with terrorism actions escalating - loads of expats leaving & tourism dead. Do not see us here much longer either.
Ozonkoys, I think your remark bit uncalled for, yes many kind people answered my previous post. However I am now asking a specific question which was NOT covered in my previous post or the replies. (I took a great deal of time to read all the previous good advice given by the kind people on KibKom) I hope to come over to see NC so will be looking to find a 'base' to start from. Thus the reason for my question

hI THERE. wE ARE ALWAYS HERE FOR ANY ADVICE, IF WE CAN GIVE IT! bEST THING IS TO AIM TO BE ON A BUS ROUTE EITHER gIRNE ITSELF OR EAST OR WEST. pLACES SUCH AS kARAOGLANOGLU, aLSANCKA, lAPTA, or out the other way to Ozankoy and Catlakoy, but on the main road so that you can hop on a bus. Or maybe up in Bellapais.
There are so many Brits around central, east and west, that it is always possible to getanywhere -provided you are not too far form those bus routes.
Of hire a car, but that is expensive.
If there is anything specific you want to know, ask away, or p.m. me.
Good luck. Sounds very nasty out ther.e Come on over - and give us a try.

Thanks Marion. Yes very nasty here. Been bombings 60km from us, jihadists in Sinai running amoke, shooting security forces and even brought down an army helicopter with a rocket propelled grenade. They are also threatening to kidnap foreigners (legitimate targets) to try & swap for their captured colleagues. The presidential elections are in 2 weeks & Sisi tipped to win. What then happens then is anyone's guess..... On top of that we have had flash floods here in the desert and the big town of Taba is totally destroyed. Hotels, dive centers, shops, houses and cars all swept away. Who would have thought that here in the desert!!!
