Thoroughly enjoyed DP and the two support bands. Very impressed with the organization of the event, not a single complaint from me.

We got there just as the first band started around 7.30, Deep Purple came on at 9.30 they were still playing when we left at 11.15. The venue was full, I have no idea how many in numbers. My brother who attends lots of rock concerts all over the world, said that this is the best one he has been too for a while regarding the organising of the parking, the entry, the exits, fire brigade, ambulance, police, cleanliness of the toilets, no long queues for drinks (at least not where we were getting ours from). It was a fantastic night.

Great. One up for north Cyprus then!!!! Fantastic. I wonder what time it finished. Sounds though you needed a lot of stamina. And the great thing here is thatone is not fearful of fight,s thefts etc, etc.

Unfortunately I couldn't go but I was so hoping that it went well.

Bravo to the group for ignoring the negative greek comments.

I am so glad to hear that it went well and that everyone who attended enjoyed it

Agree with Lor51 - great concert and organisation. We did stay to the end and were dreading getting out of the car park but it was fine - left the field at 1125, bit of a walk to the car and at Gonyeli roundabout for 1140. Police were great directing traffic. Well done NEU.

So glad that it was a success. Glad that I was proved right, when I said initially that Ian Gillan was my brother-in-law's mate and he would NOT bow to pressure from the Greek Cypriots Well done Deep Purple.

Yes, absolutely brilliant performance from Deep Purple. Sound quality was excellent, and they are top musicians. First saw them over 40 years ago......improved with age - them that is, not me!!!!! It was an amazing set and very well done to the Uni for putting it on. There were many 10's of thousands there and we Rocked!!!!! Hopefully they have shown the way for other top performers to ignore the pleadings of the south, leave the politics out of performance......and come and share an Efes or several.

What a great gig . Seen them before in theatre setting like Oxford Apollo and Hammersmith etc but this was something else . Went on my own by taxi (wife not too keen ) . Got dropped right outside . Strolled in and parked myself next to the soundboard desk which conveniently had a bar . Beer 10 tl . So what !! Everyone very friendly and just a great atmosphere . The stage set was amazing . Think Knebworth size . Light show amazing . But most of all was the quality of the sound . WOW . From 300 mts back it made your chest vibrate but so clear it didn't hurt or be uncomfortable . The performance was epic with great new songs too . Still we all enjoyed the classics like Lazy and Ian Paice still rocked on his drum solo in The Mule . Great band great show and top marks to the organisation from the getting in to getting out . No ques anywhere . Back in Girne 30 min after last song . Gig finished at around 11-30 .

I really hoped someone filmed this one and will keep an eye out on you tube .

Brilliant night . You know when you have been to a good gig when your ears are ringing when you go to bed .

Well done Uni and their team .

It was truly awesome. Deep Purple rocked everyone's socks off as always and gave everyone a night to remember. NEU and the Police were truly worthy supporting acts. As a hardened rock festival fan I can honestly say I have never been to one as well organised as this, it ran like a smoothly oiled machine. The toilets were the biggest shock, usually a total no no at such events but these were absolutely spotless. Possibly the cleanest loos in North Cyprus. Leaving the gig was a breeze. The police had everything under control and we were out of the park and on our way in literally a few minutes . Thanks to all involved in this event for an amazing night. We want more!

Absolutely fantastic night. We arrived at 7.24 having parked our car at Lemar and walked to gig. We stood for 4 hours in the same spot, right at the front, about 10 metres from the stage. The local youngsters really seemed to enjoy it and knew the lyrics of the popular songs. I too was impressed by the excellent organisation, the good-natured, well behaved crowd and the quality of the sound. The first group on were very good but the old chaps surpassed all expectations - they were brilliant. A very special night for North Cyprus and I'm over the moon that we were there to share it!!!!!!!!!

Was a small part that missed the chaos, weather and total lack of any organization at Reading, Donington etc in the 70`s and 80`s.
All a bit to easy nowadays!

Who`s next ?

As it is - it all turned out fine... ending in a great show... Ian Gillan might have lost some of his range and power but they still sounded mighty fine and delighted the fans old and young... Ian Paice is still the best rock drummer of his and this generation whilst Don Airey proved to be a worthy stand-in for the late great Jon Lord. Steve Morse seemed to relish the task of filling the boots of many a top guitarist and Roger Glover was rock-steady as always on bass... Well pleased and thank you to NEU for putting on such a great show and Deep Purple for standing by their agreement... Top banana!

According to reports the venue could old 150000 but around 20000 were there . Circa 970000 euro was the cost !! According to reports I read.
I thought between 20 and 30 I have to say a lot short of what the venues alleged capacity was
What a bloody good night though bring on the Rolling Stones next.

With that crowd what a pity they didn't make a nominal charge to be divided between local charities
Re bringing the Rolling Stones, Girne is getting better, but not exactly wheel chair friendly.!!!!

If you saw their recent gig at Hyde Park I'm sure you'd agree the wheelchairs aren't needed just yet!
