Annual Dog Registration - Catalkoy

Anyone know when this is going to take place this year? Already it is very late, just wondering if they are waiting till today (1st June) when the cut off for dog chipping comes into effect before they call for registration?

I get the impression that the chipping, which in itself involves registration with your local belediye, negates the need for the usual registration. We have had nothing in the Lapta area and it is usually in April.

Somehow I can't see the local Belediye missing out on the opportunity to charge for annual registration! Not a moan that by the way, just commen sence, if there is money to be made then don't miss the chance! How would they get rid of their large stock of worming tablets and how would they complete the registration in the dogs passport book if it is all down to the chipping? End of line is - what would happen next year? Another chip to update the current chip or back to standard registration?

I still have the feeling that they will call for dog registration this month as they already have a record of the "registered" dogs in their respective area's - first check that all those have been chipped then out onto the streets to collect the unregistered/unchipped dogs that are left to wander around by their owners! I will ask when I go to pay my water bill next week.

in Girne it is renewable in January so if you were to register in June it will still need to be done the following January. the registration is still required along with the micro chipping and it is necessary to take the final paper that comes back from the veterinary dept in İefkoşa when you renew your registration. the only thing that isn't required after the initial time i was told by the veterinary is the visit to the veterinary dept in Girne, (or maybe in your case they come out to your area.) it will just be a visit to your local belediye for renewal each year. perhaps visit your local belediye office for clarification hope this was of some help

Thanks Denise13, our system is a bit different to the Girne one and we all troop off down to outside the cemetary behind Tempo every year to re-register the dogs. Normally it is in the local papers when it is due - they don't seem to stick to a specific date but generally it is always in May - but there has been nothing seen yet. Will enquire and revisit my vet as well to see if they know what is happening.

Don't frighten me! I have another 29 days to chip the puppies which turned up in our neighbour's garden 9 years ago and would look after as long he met all medical and extra expenses, unfortunately there does not seem to be a list I can put them on for collection by the authorities and while waiting I am quite happy to feed, look after them, keep them safe and now medical expenses since our old neighbour has passed away last year.

Sorry, did not intend to frighten!!!! Really did think it was first of June but now me and the boss disagree - unusual that - the boss thinks its the 30th!! I agree because you have to close your eyes when you sleep............
