Because sky has blocked most of it through illegal usage.

There are still plenty of channels to watch on Sky, but you can no longer get the UK terrestrial channels ie BBC, ITV, Channel 4.Channel 5.

As long as you have a English VPN (which Multimax supply as part of their package) you can watch Sky Go as long as you have a subscription in the UK. I watch all Sky Sports and The Movies which I subscribe to.
However if you do not have a English VPN you can watch all the Terrestial Channels and more on FILM ON, very stable and reliable I have found.
Hope this helps

Hi, Sky TV will work. Depending on your subscription 40 channels are available on the Sky TV guide.8 further channels are available on other channels,However you will need to research and manually input the frequencies into other channels.
The above are not in HD.
Hundreds more channels are available in HD with Sky On Demand you will however need a router with a VPN facility and a third party VPN service costing about £5.00 per month.
The on demand service works very well.
Hope this helps.

O.K. Just for you Bluedream we have gone through all our channels etc and this is our situation in Ozankoy.
We have a 1.8 metre dish and receive the following channels:
Sky 1
Sky Living
Sky Atlantic
Watch
Gold
Dave
Comedy Central
Sky Living +1
Fox
TLC
MTV
Sky Arts 1
Alibi
Pick
Pick +1
Lifetime
MTV +1
Drama
Quest
Sky1 +1
Sky Living it
Home & Health
Home
Good Food
Really
Viva
Sky News
CNN
Community
QVC
QVC Extra
QVC Style
Sky news Arabia
This is with a 1.8m dish and Sky+ box on the basic package for £21.00 p.m.
Don`t cancel your subscription and don`t tell Sky you are leaving the country. if you lose channels or have no signal at any time it is just necessary to change the transponder number.
For BBC and ITV we use FILMON without a VPN and without paying extra, AND you can record on it.
We have a Multimax internet connection and if I want to use BBC I-Player I click on the Multimax VPN.
So there you go. hope this helps.

LooseBoots.
I have all these channels PLUS, as my friend in the UK has a full package.
This is called friendship as he allows me to use his package on SKY GO.
Which would you think is the cheaper choice, A DISH THAT COSTS a lot of money OR up grading your UK package and going onto Sky Go for the time you are outside the UK.
All you need is a VPN and a internet connection, one of the providers even gives you a FREE VPN.
If you do not live here all the time, they have a package to fit your requirements.
So I would recommend you look at the cost.

Just to clarify my previous post 11. I have a 1.8 dish and Sky box with built in wifi for the On Demand.
With the on demand you can download all the programmes to watch when you want to watch.Films are also available if you have that package with Sky . Sky Store is also available for the very latest films.

MULTIMAX VPN is free and it works fine for us. Others may disagree. But I can only speak from our own experience.

Hi loose boots, thanks for the info. When you get your free VPN through multimax, does that just cover your TV? I also have an ipad, would it also work on there?

Not really a techie. I use the VPN on my laptop . having said that, have HDME cable linking the laPtop to the T.V.
I think that you have to register each computer with Multimax..............not 100% sure on that though. FILMON though my partner uses on her tablet with no VPN and records programmes on that.

I have the same set up as Looseboots, Laptop connected to TV via HDMI cable and I am also with Multimax. However I don't use the VPN to watch iPlayer as this works without. I do however need to use the VPN to watch 4OD or previously shown ITV and for these you also need to register and enter a UK post code. If you are with Multimax you also get the main UK free to view channels from their NTV service.
I am curious to understand how you get WiFi on the SkyHD box and does this then allow you to watch their on demand service? I had tried this previously but it says I have to be connected to Broadband. I would appreciate some more info on this.

Hi the free Multimax VPN will not work with a (smart) TV directly , as the TV has no means to configure the VPN on it. Devices that you can configure the VPN on, laptops, tablets (android and ios) and smartphones can all use the VPN by configuring it on each relevant device.
In addition to this 'manual' VPN MM also automatically route traffic to the BBC - and ONLY to the BBC - so that it looks like it originates in the UK, so iplayer will normaly work without you having to do anything on any device (including a smart tv with iplayer app). However if the BBC make changes as to where they send their content from it can sometimes take us a while to cacth up with that for this 'auto vpn' where as with the manually configured VPN this will always work (if the vpn is working of course).
I hope this makes some sort of sense. Oh and so you know I work for Multimax
