Hi if you pm your phone no & directions I could come round next week to test salt for you if you don't manage to get your own tester in the meantime.

This thread takes me back 10 years, to the days of Steve, Chris and Vaughan. Pre 44 and way bitchier.

I must say that when I saw the word Watermaid it made me shiver, yes memories, but not ones to be resurrected

Yes, watermaid was a system that I was glad to be rid of. Well marketed poor performance and used too much electricity with replacement parts costing a fortune.

Since superseded by the Aligator silver/copper ionisation system.
Very good performance.
Tried and tested in TRNC.
Low running costs.
Affordable consumable parts.
Local testimonials available.

Things have moved on as they must do, but those of us with long memories will recall that it was Vaughan who was the leading marketeer of the now discredited Watermaid system. Also Vaughan who was the Technical Director of the now defunct Octopus Pools. Not a great track record making it difficult to have faith in the Aligator or the pool liners or the air conditioning business he now runs.

My watermaid pool (8 years old supplied by Vaughan) is in fantastic condition. Have only had to replace the cell last year and other than that no problems at all. If watermaid has infact been discredited I don't see how that can be blamed on Vaughan nor the fact that Octopus Pools is now defunct. Surely that would be the responsibility of the person running the business.

I have no problem with Vaughan at all as he was not the marketeer for watermaid but just worked for them. If you have a problem with pool/ aircon Vaughan is only too willing to give advise and help. So can we please refrain from personal attacks!
