Yes the Turkish navy does have submarines - have seem one here from time to time.

Maybe it was part of the Search and Rescue exercise reported in the paper today (though I am not sure how a sub would be used) - and I expect that also explains the helicopters recently over Ozankoy.
You will probably also see Warships next month, for Peace and Freedom day on 22nd July. They used to let the public (incl. expats and tourists) round the Warships moored near Girne harbour on that day. I dont know if they still do
