Which Gas for BBQ?

I have brought my gas BBQ over from the UK, bought a new regulator to suit the local gas bottles and attached a GREEN gas container. Unfortunately, the heat generated is inadequate. Can anyone offer any advice eg: would the blue gas containers be more suitable? Thanks for your help.

Hi pgl,
try a high pressure regulator, that will do the job.
Available in any DIY.

Both, blue and green gas cylinders work fine on my gas BBQ.

Hi Rabbit - many thanks. Can I buy a high pressure regulator here to suit the local gas bottles and if so, do you know where? Appreciate your help. Peter

Hi Peter,
high pressure regulators are used the same way like the
other ones. Suit the local gas bottles and are easy to handle.
All DIY shops selling them. We need ours for a big outdoor
gascooker you cannot operate with a normal regulator.

If your BBQ worked on UK bottled gas (LPG or Butane) it should be fine here with either green or blue bottles.

As far as regulators are concerned, for safety, do not use high pressure unless your BBQ has an inbuilt second stage regulator to maintain the correct working pressure at the burners. Although the high pressure regulators are adjustable, they are not safe for the application you have in mind.

Your lack of heat could be for a number of reasons. Blocked injectors for one or a restriction in the venturi tubes. The latter would give a fairly yellow flame picture.

I hope this helps.
