Hi all,
I have been hearing a creaking in my beams for a few weeks and decided to paint them with a woodworm stain/treatment. I have since found little piles of wood dust on my floor. Has anybody else experienced this?
If anyone could recommend a company they have used or treatments that have worked i'd be very grateful.
Many thanks

Termites are a big problem here.Doubt its woodworm if you can hear them. There is a company in Alsancak that specialise in pest control. They are pretty much next door to where the pork shop used to be before it moved.

Re: HELP woodworm in beams
I too had the same problem last year. I used the firm in Alsancak, which is next to the Booksellers now I believe, roughly opposite Starling. The came in and treated all of my beams. They did an excellent job and I thought the price was very good. They were in my house for two days in total. A word of warning though. The obviously have to use a ladder to reach the ceilings and the spray they inject drips! They didn't cover my rugs/furniture/appliances etc. and I had drip/run marks down the walls. They recommend that you treat your beams once a year. I didn't realise when I bought my home that mine had not been done for about 8 years and so I had to have a few of the beams replaced due to insect damage. For the cost of treating the beams once a year it is worth keeping on top of it.
I think the name of the company is BetaTek. Try calling 03924442010. Not a lot of English is spoken there, but enough that you can be understood. They have lots of pictures of different type of bugs on display so a point and press/show and tell system works with them if all else fails.
I will be using them again this year.

Hi Witchy,
Thank you so much for your help.
The same thing happened to us. We have recently moved into a new property and had this surprise. I will definitely go to beta tek and see what they can do to help.
Thanks again x
