The Cabin Lapta What an Experience !!!

Today visited the Cabin Lapta to give it another try after 2 non eventful meals previously, Today surpassed the 2 prior meals. Ordered Swordfish which should have came with mashed potatoe and salad , so asked if I could have chips instead, the answer no , so ordered french fries as a side dish. The second dish King Prawns with Garlic sauce and french fries with salad.

Waited 35 minutes in a not too busy restaurant / cafe for the food to be presented to find the Prawns burnt to a frazzle and swordfish came with french fries !! and a second side helping of french fries. The swordfish had so many bones in it you could not work around them, could not even contemplate trying to eat it. Had to ask before the food came if we could have bread with our meal.

Complained, to be told, what is on the menĂ¼ is not what they serve at lunchtime?? Anyway presented with a bill after complaining to the owner were presented again witha bill for 81 tl which included 2 glass of wine whilst we were waiting for 35 mins on the food arriving. No apologies ---nothing from him . Told him in no uncertain terms we would not be back. He was not interested.

Not being nasty about this at all, they are not cheap to start with, but most certainly will not be back as I can eat better elsewhere with better service at far more competitive prices.

So after forking out 81 Tl for a non existent meal went elsewhere to enjoy proper food at far more reasonable prices with good service to boot.

Make sure if you go for a meal snack that you get what you ordered and pay for. Places like this should not be encouraged. My opinion. Maybe should have ordered burger and chips as they seemed to serve that up fast enough with no complaints that I heard.

81 TL for two glass of wine on the Lapta strip is a bit excessive don't you think. Could have had a nice bottle of Shiraz at the Colony in town for 80 TL

If you knew me you would realise that I'm as fussy as hell but I have to say we've been for two evening meals (one a birthday party and everything was extremely good - including the homemade chocolate Birthday cake.) The food was cooked as it should be, including two swordfish dishes which were gorgeous, few bones, moist and tender. On another occasion, very rare steak was requested and that is what was served. I have to be honest and say that I've only ever ordered Cesar salad at lunchtime and the staff have been very kind, informative and helpful. I can only speak as I find and I'm really sorry you had a bad time.

Its nice to hear that Sophie and that you enjoyed, and we in the past have had some really nice meals as well, but on this occasion not the case . Would not go back at anytime in the future and we have lived here for 8 years now and never said anything similar about anywhere we have had a meal.

Maybe it is something to do with the chef in the kitchen. Is it the same one every day? Maybe that is the inconsistency? Might be worth asking them why it is sometimes good and sometimes bad.

I totally agree Marions, but was a bit concerned about the owner when questioned not doing anything about it?? Really not good for business and so easily rectified.
I have no experience recently of the Cabin but certainly in most restaurants I would have done the same as the original post and wondered what was going on!
Everywhere has a 'bad day/night' for a multitude of reasons but the majority can explain and sort it all out to our benefit and if not -- just walk!! never to return!
So many to choose from.
