3G problems in Ozankoy area
Is it just me, or has anyone else had problems connecting to the Internet via 3G in Ozankoy today? After checking with the office in Girne I was advised that my connection was OK. Several hours later it still was not connecting. I took my laptop into the office in Girne and it was OK.I usually log off every night, but am scared to tonight , they say in the office maybe problem is in the Ozankoy area!

Still connected as I left it on last night. Can one of you computer wiz kids answer this question? I have 10GB! If I just close the lid is anything happening, or is everything stopped. Friend said I may be using data or something. Don't really understand, as a complete numskull when it comes to computer speak!

It depends on what action your laptop executes when you close the lid. It can be set to turn of the laptop when you close the lid, in which case it will not use any of your data when closed. It can also be set to do nothing when you close the lid, in which case it could continue to use data when the lid is shut. The it could be set to 'hibernate' or 'sleep' when you close the lid, which are not the same as each other or the same as turning off either. In simple terms as long as you do not have your laptop set to 'do nothing' when you close the lid then it should not use any data when closed.Owl Lady wrote:Still connected as I left it on last night. For details on the difference between 'turn off', hibernate and sleep and how to see / change what action your laptop takes when you close the lid have a look here.

Thanks Erol for taking the trouble to reply and explain. I never did know the differences. I think I will put it to" sleep" tonight and see what happens!
