Vantage points for air show on 20th?

Hi folks
I thought this year I would try to find a different spot other than Girne harbour or out in a boat to view the air show. Has anyone got any advice/experience of another location? Not toooooooooooo far from Alsancak if at all possible?
many thanks
Cheers

yes I agree the boat is fun but this time it's not an option for one of our party, hence the need to ask for other ideas.
cheers

Two places to avoid..

1. the Girne - Lefkosa road (up the hill) it gets completely overwhelmed... and
2. The St Hilarion road - it is normally closed for the duration of the event...

The harbour is probably the best spot to see all the action other than a boat at sea - not sure about the new harbour.....

One of the old harbour-side venues might be quite relaxed if you can get seats by the edge.

As far as I know it is the fantastic Solo Turk again but there were whispers of a ''surprise''. I know President Gul is here from the 20th/23rd.

Slightly but are you aware of the dawn vigil at escape beach? This is to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Turkish intervention. It starts at 10pm on the evening of the 19th with music from stars from Turkey and the Turkish military band. At approx 12 midnight there will be a torchlight walk down to the sea to await dawn, the time when these ''lifesavers'' landed and saved many more 1000s of Turkish Cypriots from being slaughtered.

This year there will be veterans from the first landing arriving by boat. And Imams will be there to say prayers for the soldiers who died.

I think this will be a very moving experience and I will be there to say a silent prayer and a thank you, to those, mostly very young, soldiers who died.

Were it not for these lads there might not have been a TRNC for us all to enjoy.

As far as I am aware, Solo Turk is displaying in Europe, so we will probably get the Turkish Stars display team.
