My friend is travelling by bus from Paphos to Solomos Square. I will be crossing at Ledra Street to meet her and would be grateful for directions from say Debenhams. I really don't know the area at all so as simple as possible would be appreciated

Continue walking along Ledra Street, and about 200 metres after Debenhams you will come to a T-junction (and moreover you will sense that you are leaving the old city). At this T-junction turn right, and walk along a road which roughly follows the city walls. After about 150 metres you'll see the bus station on your left. Inter-city buses use the stop on the far side of the station (ie. furthest away from the old city)

Fab thank you. I think I went past it years ago but was coming from a different direction then!

One more question Ian if you don't mind. Do you know if I will be able to send a text from my Turkcell mobile when I am in the south and if so, do I just call the usual UK number (ie 0044 etc). Thanks once again.

Hi again J&J,
I think you will only be able to use your Turkcell simcard within a few 100 metres of the Green Line.

It is all a matter of line of site. I almost always have a decent Turkcell signal in south Nicosia (Ikea included). If you struggle, just go upstairs in a reasonably tall building. I almost always get a signal at LCA as well. As for 0044 etc, if you are connecting via Turkcell then treat it as if you are north of the line.

Thanks to all for your replies. I shall just have to keep my fingers crossed that the phone works if we do not find each other lol.

You should be okay with the phone signal. When going to Larnaca I lose the Turkcell signal just after the turn off by the big church on mh UK phone, but with my NC phone not until we are on the motorway.
