Just want you all to know that I volunteered and got laughed at and told I was too little. Gee thanks Soner. That is the loveliest thing anyone has said to me in a long time.

Anyway, I will be with Can gazi on the microphone, so can't encourage and pull at the same time. So come on, you hale and hearty. Come along and add your weight to Soner's. (and I am not commenting on THAT.)

Should be a great day, and it would be good to know that kibKomers are a great'pull'.

The committee thought of asking them . But this is for kib|Kom. It would be good if RBL came and pulled against us!

He is indeed. Thanks, now there are two (as I have been rejected!). Would put my husband down, but he is neither young nor strong (although he wishes he was.).

O.K. Anyone else?

Goldfish, you are truly 'golden' Thanks so much. I know Soner will get in touch, but that is fabulous that we have a team. I can opt out now then! Soner reckons I wouldn't be of any use!!!!!

Just saw the thread......
Back in the 80s I was selected for the All-Irish Tug of War team that competed in the Highland games, but we never made it past the first round as we were disqualified for pushing......such is life.

Well done! I think we may have the largest team! The CESV could well be predominantly women! So maybe I will have to join them!!!!!!

Thanks so much you wonderful bunch of KibKomers. You have no idea how encouraging it is to Tricia Dann (the great motivator and encourager of the Friends of SPOT) to know that you have all rallied round and are going to support her. And I hope you have a great dya out into the bargain The Ocean Bar supplies good food at great prices; reasonably priced beer (for thosewho imbibe), and if any of the grownups feel that a tug of war is not enough, you can always compete in the sand sculpture.

Thanks so much all of you.

Just come back form the final committee meeting for the event on Sunday, and I know that Soner will be announcing, but I am getting in first! (save him the job)

1. The tug of war matches will start at 1.30p.m. and there could be two or three of them between the three Raft Races. So it could be a long hawl, but the beer is cool and cheap, and the winners get a crate of beer! So.......................

2. If you want to wear trainers or other shoe s on the beach, feel free to do so. There is some concern about the contents of the beahc, but one of the committee will do a rake over before the races begin. So it is up to you.

So if any of you have any queries, do ask either through the Forum a private message, or you can phone me on 0533 882 4313 - and if no queries, look forward to seeing you there by say, 1.15p.m. at Ocean Bar, Guzelyali, Karsiyaka. And a thousand thanks form The Friends of SPOT for being game and taking part via KibKom.

A huge thanks to you all for supporting Soner and KibKom. A few things went wrong - not having a P.A. system kinda mucked thing s up a bit, but you were all jolly good sports.

Sorry the crate of beer shrunk (a long story!), BUT I AM SURE IN THAT WEATHER WATER WAS BETTER FOR YOU!!?!.

Thanks again all of you, and hope you regard that as good training for next year!

Of course next year we could have a raft??????????????????????? I would even consider getting back my swimming skills and having a go - now THERE's a challenge.

Couldn't agree more Puppy lover. So can I have the volunteers now? You may recall that I WANTED TO TAKE PAR,T BUT sONER SAID I WAS TOO LIGHT WEIGHT! I TAKE THAT AS A HUGE COMPLIMENT, (sorry, caps stuck again) but I probably weigh as much as some of the men! So, yes, a Ladies Team - the KibKomeresses.

Who else is game?

They did have a last minute Light Weight competition with the students, but wouldn't it be great to have a Ladies CESV team as well. I am getting quite excited already, and maybe next year we will have a sound system and get everyone down on the beahc to cheer everyone on.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will definitely work on that - if there IS a next year, of course.

Really enjoyed the day and, of course, it was made so much better by winning the tug-of-war, well done boys. This morning, though, I realise it isn't really something for the over 60's because it now feels like I was pulling a double decker bus.
It was nice to meet Soner in person and I am now the proud owner of a Kibkomer T-Shirt.
Well done to the organisers of the whole day and good luck with the turtle hatchings.

Mountain Edge, if it makes you feel better - it isn't something for the over 40's either - I am still in recovery mode.
Thanks all for a great day. I am not a bad sport, really, but the intention was to win....and we did that.

Will definitely like a team of women next year - may even go in drag to join you if it get's me off being a part of the men's tug team - as I said still recovering, looks simple but really not the case.

Thanks again for really great day and well done to the organisers. BTW, the 112 team were very strong, it could have gone either way, another few seconds and it could have been their win.

carolhm, my pleasure and nice meeting you all.

O.K. I will start collecting names of REAL women to take part. Any males wishing to form a 'Drag' team is welcomed to do so, but not sure we real women could stand a chance agains tyou. Although maybe we could bend the rules and have Sexy Soner sporting stockings and suspenders as anchor 'man'.

Maybe we ladies could start training. SPOT has its own rope.

Sorry to hear that some of the contestants feel that they had been dragging a truck rather than a rope, but it wa s probably a terrific cardiovascular exercise!

Thanks again all of you!

I am game. It would be nice to know that at my age I was still able to pull something, with a little help of course

Maybe that is why we need to pull together B lue Butterfly, as one our own we can't 'pull' anything!

So that's two of us - hoping that my health will be good next year - it has been to date, but seeing how Sunday's men havebecome old crocks today, I am sure we need to train.

Hurray. Do you think we both will be fit enough next year? But you are like my mother was - little and wiry. (as in strong!).

Good beginning, and only 362 days to go!
