This morning at 8-30 there was a shot, then a dog yellping. The dog managed to stagger away then died at our front gate. Dont know if someone had threw the dog out of a car then shot it,or was drivig past then shot it. Police were called they have been up twice now, so they are taking it seriously.keep your dogs in at Arapkoy

Was it a hunting dog ??? if so, I'm afraid it's the norm, if of no use anymore. I just hop the poor dog died quickly, and hope this is not the start of worse to come due to dog registration.

Sad as this story is, better that than being chucked out of a car and left to fend for itself. That is what happened to my Pointer as we discovered after while she was scared of loud bangs, so was useless as a gun dog. Fortunately she has had another 10 years.

And far better than a long slow death by poison. Peoplein the UK have been known to shoot animals to prevent them suffering if they dont have access to drugs. Mainly a matter of being a good shot. Where was this dog shot - ie what part of the body?

It was not a hunting dog & it was shot in the top part of its body. It was just as you turn off the 2nd turning for Arapkoy.

Reference to the question of where the dog was shot - why does this matter? The poor animal was shot and killed, full stop!!! As for people shooting dogs in the UK that did not have access to drugs, what decade are we talking about here, obviously not in the 21st Century, this deplorable act was committed this morning just up the road in Arapkoy !!! Surely no one can give excuses for this !!!

Just for info., shooting is used as a humane form of euthanasia for dogs by the RSPCA in some instances. Obviously this is only performed by fully trained staff.

so this was a fully trained staff menber was it.get real. We live in a lovely country where, unfortunately, they sometimes use barbaric methods to rid them selves of what they consider are pests. I dont agree with it and I fear that nothing we say, or do, will change it, it has happened for so long. it does not mean we have to condone or put up with it and the only way we can try to go forward is to educate and make our voices heard

As this time the police have got involved, maybe something will be done to stop this happening again to some poor animal but for some this is normal practise and I do not think they honestly see anything wrong in it!
Just because they think and believe that, it will not stop us and others, doing our ''bit'' to help and improve the animals lives.
We are sorry for the distress this has obviously caused the original poster who had to deal with the dyeing dog at his/her gate.
