Just wanted to find out if the power strike went ahead. We are down in Larnaca having a few days here with a friend from the UK, and don't know whether to stay here or return if the strike didn't go ahead.

Its still very much on the cards i am sorry to say.

Thanks for the info, our friend's flown home this arvo so we'll take our chances and return tomorrow. After the peace and quiet of North Cyprus, Larnaca and its high costs aren't really our cup of tea.

Well, we are back here in Alsancak and it's a breath of fresh air after Larnaca. Just hope it doesn't turn out to be a breath of hot air if the strike does go ahead. With the heat coming in, it seems a very dangerous thing to do, to cut off power when the elderly, sick and young will be affected.

Rumour has it that a power cut will be Friday. So.................

as to whom it affects, that is never part of the equation. It affects everyone, including the families of the strikers! But as they always say 'this is Cyprus.'

Yes, I thought the fact that it affects everyone if the strike takes place was pretty obvious and didn't need stating. But some are more vulnerable than others although we'll all be in deep doggy doo if industrial takes goes ahead.
