Can someone give me new address of clinic and directions please ?

Kiplet, I don't know if you would be interested but we have just registered with the Kyrenia Medical Centre. General Practice
Because it's a small hospital it has more facilities on hand. Laboratory xray dept etc.
To be honest I felt a bit disloyal as in the past I've had excellent service from VIP but at the end of the day you have to go with what is more convenient to yourself.
My other half had a consultation for what we both thought was a torn muscle. Within minutes the Dr diagnosed a kidney stone confirmed fifteen minutes later with an xray, then more detailed xrays.
He now has to have an operation. I am so relieved that I won't have to be travelling each day to & from Lefkosa

I have only good things to say about the Dr from VIP Med and of the British Kolan Hosp it's just the distance & travelling for tests, xrays, etc & of course if you need to be admitted to hosp for any reason

Depends on which way you approach it from. Basically it is a turn off from the road where the HSB bank is situated virtually opposite the Pegasus offices. It's a narrow turning & the hospital & laboratory are just a few yards down on the right hand side. Further down the street on the left hand side is some waste ground for parking if you're unable to park outside the hospital.
There are English lady receptionists. There is no fee to register & on registration you get a blood sugar & cholesterol test. You then see the Dr who goes through your registration form with you & if you have any problems you discuss it with her(English speaking)
After diagnosis she passed us over to the general surgeon who then called a urologist, he arrived within half an hour. Everything was explained and discussed with us in perfect English & a decision made on how to proceed.
If you have to wait for results of tests as we did just a short walk round the corner is a bar/restaurant where you can get a drink & bite to eat(The Passport)
For me the delights of a wander round Mr Pound (back entrance) whilst the other half relaxed with a coffee & news paper.

It sounds like you are describing the Kamioglu Hospital maybe it has changed its name??

We intend to spend between 3 - 6 months in N Cyprus from next year and were wondering wether it would be sensible for us to register with a medical centre? From what we have read on the forum most people seem to be very satisfied with the standard of care and advice offered and whilst we appreciate there are charges would it be sensible for us to think about registering?

Is there any advantage to registering? Who should we register with - personal preference will of course play a part but maybe some places are better than others? If anyone does recommend somewhere please can you advise of location i.e Lefkosia, Girne etc.

Whilst we hope we would not need to spend time visiting a hospital, maybe getting something in place would give peace of mind? If anyone has any advice or guidance it would be gratefully received.

Yes ozankoys that's the one. They have now added a GP type surgery to their existing services and called it Kyrenia Medical Centre. The advantage as far as I am concerned is that all blood tests xrays and follow up treatment can take place on the premises without the need to travel to Lefkosa.
It hasn't changed it's name & neither have we English changed it's name, it has simply added an extra service and named that service themselves.

It costs nothing to register so nothing to lose, but sincerely hope you will not need to make use of their services during your stay

The only problem with the Kamioglu as I see it, and the Receptionist was quite honest about it, is that, although they have an ambulance, it isn't fitted out with life saving equipment and the staff not totally trained up. She told us that if we thought we were ever in a life or death situation, it would be better to call the state ambulance service. These were her words not mine. In all other respects I'm sure it probably has everything going for it and its certainly better not to have to keep driving up to Lefkosa to visit a patient.

Posh in devon in a medical emergency as suggested above it is always preferable to visit the state hospital get there under your own steam if possible or call an ambulance.
The private hospitals are very good for tests & check ups but they do not always have doctors in attendance as they also probably have to work NHS hours as well. The state hospital has good facilites & is staffed 24/7 & in serious cases they stabilise you & ambulance you to Lefkosa where there are more specialist facilities.
The fees are minimal as well!
