Dreadful story, this father and son were lucky to have escaped with their lives. All because of some idiot boat driver taking risks, just like many do in their cars. This kind of thing does nothing to help the North Cyprus tourist industry. The last time I took my kids on a boat the banana boat was deliberately turned upside down, and a grown man really hurt himself when he fell off, and later needed to go to hospital. The above story is likely only the tip of the iceberg.

They weren't paragliding, they were being towed by a boat which is not paragliding to my knowledge...

Thank you, Groucho. You are correct! TANDEM PARAGLIDING is flying with a qualified experienced
Instructor. PARASAILING which this was, is being pulled behind a boat by some young lad who really has no idea
About safety! Where there is no training, safety checks of equipment and most importantly no insurance!
This is not just in The TRNC but world wide.

Well said Kiwikid, I have done PARAGLIGING twice with you, great!!. You couldn't pay me a million£££ to be towed by a boat, hate water and not a strong swimmer!

The Beeb have changed the title of the article to correctly reflect the type of activity so hopefully it won't adversely affect the Tandem Paragliding business....
