Sorry to all you keen kibkomers, but the gathering on the 8th July will not now be happening. Due to a chain of events and non events (most negative, sadly) the get together will not be happening. But for all those who entered the dra,w this will be done in the Star Media group studios and will be broadcast to the nation! well, those who can or want to watch Ada TV. The results will also be in the Cyprus Star on the following Friday.

so sorry for those who were looking forward to putting faces to names, but this time it won't happen.

However, I am still working on the Shy Soner to get some courage and when he is back later in the year to be prepared to be the speaker at a literary lunch under the banner of one of the local charities. so maybe kibkomers around at the time would like to come and it could serve several purposes. But for now, what more can I say, other than sorry.
So, if you put 8th July in your diary for the social occasion of the year, please rub it out.

and for those of you who have not sent in your entry for the competition - hurry, hurry, hurry.

Yes, what a pity, but I will be out in Cyprus for 2 weeks and will hopefully be doing a book signing for the Turkish translation of The Green Line paperback, so can meet up when organised, or even at a bar one eveing in Girne, any suggestions welcome, will be happy to meet up one evening with members for a social drink and chat.

As it does not take much to confuse me I would be grateful if you clarify whether or not the cancellations include the proposed picnic/BBQ at an unconfirmed location, the meeting at the Mountain View Hotel, and the suggestion to meet in a bar somewhere ? If this is the case it leaves my 2012 diary free of all social activity, which may cause many a great relief ! . Once upon a time there was an Englishman, an Irishman, and a .............

Soner - know it sounds a bit cheeky, if I bring my English copy to the Turkish signing ? please...

The proposed picnic bbq turned into a meeting at the moungtain View as suitable venue etc could not be found for picnic.
Moungtain View now cancelled 'due to lack of interest' plus, plus, plus.
Offer now is to meet in a bar some time if people want, when Soner is over - nothing yet arranged.
Book signing also not yet arranged.

sorry again for any confusion. It turned out to be difficult to find the ideal thing for a picnic etc, and then other problems arose. So, the draw for the competition will now be at the Ada studio.

sorry your diary is free. I am sure soner will appoingt a place and a time for some of us to meet. Watch this space.

We were dissapointed we could not make original planned gathering so this cancellation gives us another chance !!

Marions. Thanks for the response. I will try and stay alert to your posts in the hope of soon making a diary entry other than the tedium of doctor, hospital, vet, last date for paying bills, appointments etc. In the meantime I will have to make the most of my current social activity which is bumping into everybody when I visit specsavers !

Sorry Marions, having a 'blonde moment' I,m sure you know the feeling. Where exactly do we take our tickets and what date do they have to be in by?
