The voice of the football results passed away today.

A consummate pro,and a Legend .

Saturday afternoons, sat with my Dad, rain hammering down outside, having watched the wrestling introduced by Kent Walton,Dad clutching his Littlewoods coupon in eager anticipation-no luck again!

Then the music came on and the teleprinter....Ah those were the days.

Philoz, you and I must be much of a muchness, because I suspect the a large proportion of those on this Forum wont have a clue who you are talking about, It was one one of my highlights being allowed to sit at the dining room table to tick off the results. BUT I always knew whether it was a win, lose or draw because of the way that he spoke and I used to jump ahead of him, much to my Mothers annoyance!!

I don't need to give my age away, everyone knows and the white hair is a dead give away! I also used to be able to anticipate the result by the inclination in his voice! R.I.P James.

Weren't Two Way Family Favourites on a Sunday, together with Wakey, Wakey - Billy Cotton Band Show. The football results were on Saturday evening surely. Whatever, it was a hell of a long time ago!!

I'm sure this guy was reading the results up to a few years ago. I know time flies but I'm sure I recall his dulcet tones not that long ago. Does anyone know when he actually stopped doing the footie results?

There's masses about him on Google. I can't go into it all but certainly he did it for over 40 years.
