ATM machines
Why is it so difficult here to check if the banks own ATM machine has more money than it should have? Machine said card had been declined (so no cash) and then on the bank statement been debited for the amount. Bank cannot check their own records at that branch and they admitted they fill it up.

Re: ATM machines
this has happened to a friend in the passed at İş bank. one machine said no money available in machine so they went to the other one next to it and got their money. yet on the statement it showed the money debited 2x. it always seemed to happen on this particular atm so was avoided in the future but they can confirm whether the money was paid 2x or not. it takes time but they can verify. if they say they can't then take it further, either to the manager or to head office. good luck

Re: ATM machines
I have a similar tale of woe when I attempted to use the ATM outside Universal Bank next to Starling in Lapta/Alsancak. It was a Buyram and obviously the machine had run out of money although it didn't say as much - it just returned my card - no money - but I discovered later that my account had been debited!!!
This is criminal in this day and age!! Simple software in use all round the world just says 'no money' and returns the card without debiting the card account.
Getting the money back was another problem!! Universal didn't accept any responsibility when they opened for business. Their solution was for me to contact my card company IN THE UK and seek a refund!!!!
In the end, this was what I had to do and all in all it took about a month!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least Universal allowed me to use their phone so I was spared the expense of calling UK.

Re: ATM machines
tansycat, i'm not sure how long it took for my friend to get her money back as it was quite a while ago but that was also on a uk card so had to be sorted between the 2. maybe it is ok where local cards are used but the problem lays where it is a uk bank card?
