We have used Pooltech for about 3 years now. They are very professional and always arrive on the designated day( most unusual out here!) They have good technical knowledge and will carry out any pool related repairs needed in addition to the regular cleaning. Also e.mail you at holiday times to advise of any change of days/times. They also do our neighbour's pool and it receives the same treatment although they only come out twice a year.

Referring to your original enquiry I would suggest taking your pump to Press Teknik before buying a new one. I know of quite a few people as well as myself who have had pumps repaired there and all are very satisfied. The most recent one I know about was rewound with a new capacitor, new brushes, new impeller, and new seals. The charge was 220tl - a significant saving on a new pump.

Hello Rogspur,
We do pool maintenance and we fix all problems with pool, pump, filter, sand, valves etc. I would be very happy to come over and quote for the pool maintenance. Lots of references available if required.

Would not recommend Press Teknik I have a business here and all I've had from this company is trouble. The best person here I have found and use regularly is Tektan, is engineer is spot one. As far as one of the above threads says renewed brushes, all pool pumps to my knowledge are brushless as are Su pumps. Hope this helps. As for pool cleaning I have been with P&O pools for 9 years not one complaint.

Your pump motor will almost certainly be an induction motor that don't have brushes.
They have a solid rotor that don't have windings.
The stator does consist of windings.
For that that reason I would wonder about the "rewind"
Most motor faults on single phase motors are duff capacitors.
I would expect a "motor overall to be new bearings, a new mechanical seal and a new capacitor"
My personal view is if the pump is old, noisey, leaking etc, renew.
