Had to laugh at this bit of geographical nonsense from Richard Hammond....
No doubt he'd been told to say this by the south where the program section was being recorded... I wonder when they are going to tow the island into the Aegean Sea to achieve this feat or could it be that they really do think they are nearer to Greece than Syria, Turkey et al.....

Reminds me of an American news item which said that someone lived in "Wales, England".
And our cruise ship which called at London (Southampton)".

At least he realises it is an Island. I was once asked was it in Turkey near to Bodrum?

Knowing the series I would suggest it was said deliberately to get the reaction it has.

Nearly as good as 2 tourist we saw at restaurant at Salamis who were looking at the tourist map saying " it must be here somewhere ". They had been to North Cyprus 15 years ago. The place they were looking for was Mersin.
