Chaos at Ercan

Just had a call to say that the carousels have broken down. The 10.30 Pegasus arrival from Istanbul is down plus two other planes I think and people are just going to have to try and sort out their own luggage. There are not enough trolleys and what there are have just been dumped by the sliding door that people come through to be picked up. I think I might have to delay lunch for our guests. It could be a long wait!!!

Ah, remember when you just picked you bags up off the tarmac? What a simple world it used to be!

Don't remember that Waddo, but I seem to remember having to identify your baggage before boarding the aircraft.

Or is my mind wandering.....

No Kaiserphil, I remember that. One time we were going to Antalya and they tried to put our luggage with that bound for Stansted!

Well they got here.................................. HOWEVER Pegasus have lost both their cases (NOT ONE BUT TWO) and that was after leaving nearly 3 hours late from Stansted. Ercan/Pegasus think the cases might still be in Istanbul, but they're are not sure, they may still be kicking around Ercan but they are not sure. What a shower of +xx+x. The couldn't care less attitude of the staff at Ercan is unbelievable. Pegasus say that legally it is the responsibility of the Airport for the first 6 days of luggage being lost, after that it becomes the responsibility of the airline.

Sophie, the airline is right. Handling agents responsible for baggage handling on/off aircraft. Suggest your guests claim on travel insurance - still a 'b' nuisance though. Not enough control of baggage handling staff anywhere in the world, but especially so on the UK - Ercan route. Cyprus shoulder shrug syndrome as opposed to the Spanish 'manana' version. Hey ho, they are here in "paradise". Hope they have a great time.

Alternate point of view here.
Last time I went back to Manchester I missed every onward connection as the bags took 2 hrs to come through.
Never had any probs at all at Ercan, baggage was there before I was last time,I think it's a good little airport personally.

Sad to say Ercan were not proactive at the number you give troll. We had to do all the pushing and phoning and emailing. Ercan considered one email to Istanbul was sufficient, rest was up to us. However cases finally arrived after pulling strings I had forgotten I had. Not what you know but who you know. I'm getting more like a local by the day!!
