Absolutely not Soner. HSBC Bank AS is a 100% wholly-owned subsidiary of HSBC Bank plc (the UK entity). I really don't understand why anyone would think the World's 2nd largest banking corporation would franchise out its branches. The TRNC branches are basically just part of the Turkish retail network.

but having said that the service they offer here is not as good as they do in turkey there nothing was too much trouble, here i think they got lucky with all the expats using them they thought they had a captive market am pleased to say now there getting a run for there money other banks just as safe are giving a lot better rates and service but i have to point out the HSBC website took some beating but i pref the benefits of better rates then website

The only real benefit of opening an HSBC account here is if you are already an HSBC Premier Account Customer where you may be able to benefit from reduced or no charges for transfers from UK.

All other banks here will offer you a far better rate of interest then HSBC, that includes both Turkish owned and TC owned banks.

There are branches in Lefkosa, Girne and Gazi Magusa but if you ask in the UK, certainly in the past they cannot be located, you needed to ask the UK branch to look under Turkish Branches at Mersin. May have changed in recent times.

HSBC here is a sub branch of Turkey, officially ran from Turkey as we are unrecognized, if you have any doubts at all, please visit Julie Dawn Younger a manager at Girne branch, she is a very honest woman and will explain all, I have banked with them for roughly ten years, and have a lot of respect for Julie as well as the branch, I also know I have the second largest bank in the world looking after my hard earned cash!

Banks look after themselves, check the latest UK press, all the major banks have alot to answer for, they all pee in the pot, most of the financial ills being suffered worldwide can be placed at the feet of the banks, they have too much power, and should be held to account,Barclays' Bob Diamond,£21M salary....its immoral!

Feel much better now!!!
