Any tips on how to stay cool in our Villas/apartments in readiness for the power strike ?

We have flyscreens so we can leave windows and doors open all of the time. Plus keep curtains blinds closed.

Maybe buy the little portable fans that are battery run.

If any one knows where to buy portable, battery run, fans. When looking for decent torches /lamps yesterday I noticed that a lot were rechargable appliances............which is all well and good if needed for a short time but if strike is on for hours at a stretch and the battery runs out is as good as a ***t in the wind.

Only short term help: but run the cold water tap over the inside of the wrists to cool the big veins there that circulate blood. Or so long as you hve ice cubes hold these on the wrists - also back of neck inside knees and elbows and forehead and palms of the hands.

So long as frig working keep au de cologne (or the lemon cologne availale from all markets) there and dab with that frequently. The lemon cologne also helps deter insects.

Fill a cool box with lots of your favourite eats and drinks, take a sun bed cushion and a big white floppy hat and a couple of good books, find a nice breezy cove with smooth rocks to lean the cushion against, submerge yourself up to the armpits in the sea. Go home when the sun goes down .

Why not buy our boat and spend a few cool hours on the sea. Speed/fishing boat, good for waterskiing. Includes the mooring in the old harbour. Tel 0533 483 2090.

Personally I think it is well worth striking up a friendship with someone who owns a generator , then invite yourself to stay.
