Ras El Hanout

I'm not very hopeful on this one but it's worth a try. Does anyone know where I can buy Ras El Hanout spice mix? Or is there anyone who could bring me some back from the UK when they next go please?

Make your own. Ground cloves cinnamon cardamom chilli coriander cumin nutmeg pepper turmeric all availble here.

2 teaspoons ground ginger
2 teaspoons ground cardamon
2 teaspoons ground mace
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon ground coriander seeds
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground anise seeds
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

Thanks guys. I have the recipe but it's a lot cheaper to buy it ready mixed but it looks like I will have to do my own. There a shop in the old town in Nicosia that may do it but not planning to go there for some time so will make my own.

I will be over at the beginning of October if you would like me to bring you some.
Do you have a preference for brand?
I use it a lot and have come to prefer Bart. (with added rose petals!)

It does seem more expensive but it has a rounder flavour than some others I have tried.

North African/Moroccan cuisine.
I also rub it on or use in a marinade for lamb & chicken before cooking, including BBQ'ing
My favourite recipe is a kind of couscous dish which I have posted in the recipe section on another forum but I won't post a link. We have this with slow roast leg of lamb, flatbread & yoghourt.

Yes it's used in Morocan cuisine. I make a lot of tagines so it's a vital ingredient and so beautiful.
Darrener2 - I would be so grateful if you had room in your bag to bring me some over please. Ireally don't mind which brand so will leave it to you.

I can't believe you think it's cheaper to buy ready mixed spices.... silly little 30g pots are a vastly more expensive way to get good quantities of such things...

I think I'm going to make up a large batch and put it into 100g bags to sell from our market stall

Your recipe on the 'About Food' website is ok but good quality Ras EL Hanout has many more ingredients. Still, if you do make some up to sell at Lambouse, let me know and I will buy and try:)

Tomorrow I will be selling sachets of Ras El Hanout from our stall at Lemar Catalkoy... 6tl for a 40g packet... made from freshly ground and mixed spices today

Jams, Marmalade, Chutneys, Bric-a-brac and now spice mixes! Stall no 14

I make my own Pilau, Tex Mex and Cajun mixes for home use too so I'm thinking of making up some for sale as well...
