Does anyone know if you have to present your UK driving licence to get this certificate? Or is it just vehicle registration documents. Thank you

Yes you do , unless you are local and have relevant driving licence

MOT'd the car in March never needed my driving licence just the car paperwork

It's the MOT... You have to have an MOT to drive your car in the south. Though as the MOT test is just a cursory glance (just as in the north) it has no safety aspect to it. You have to laugh or you'd go bonkers.

The good thing about it is that it is free & you cannot buy insurance without it. Presumably the purpose is to check that the vehicles going into ROC are being legally driven by the owner or with the owner's permission.

Does anyone know their opening hours for renewal of MOT (or more importantly, when they are closed). Many thanks.

They are open Mon- Fri until around 14.30 closed Bank Holidays.

Ah! The form I have to complete each year - I thought that was the Road Tax for the South. Whatever, I am content now that I know that I have not been missing anything.

I believe taximax could be referring to the extra piece of paperwork besides insurance you need to drive legally in the South.
Some refer to it as road tax ,others as MOT.
I can't speak for T/Cypriots or Turkish Mainlanders but if you are British despite the fact that you hold a current Turkish driving license they will not issue this until they have sight of your UK license.
We got caught out by this early this year & had to return next day.
ozankoys are correct, kiosk for obtaining this is Mon =Frid close at 2pm.
I wonder how you would manage if you live here permanently drive on your Turkish license and allow your Uk license to lapse? !!!

You don't try to drive to the South.

The only time we cross to the South is when friends and/or relatives find themselves a cheaper or more convenient flight into Larnaca. It costs us because we only take advantage of the months insurance for the collection & return to & from the airport.. However, because it's wonderful to see them we are prepared to make that small sacrifice.
