Scotland - which way will it go today?

I'm hoping the silent majority have been keeping their No! cards close to their chests and that Yes is voted down.... I get the distinct impression that No voters have not wanted to engage in heated discussions leading to what amounts to abuse for their beliefs in a United Kingdom... For sure they can't want King Salmond... can they?

Which ever way they vote I hope they stop putting it on news at ten .

Is it just a anti English vote from the yes ?
Are the no voters just not gamblers ?

I laughed as I have a coupe of Scottish friends who are not saying which way they are voting ,I think they know but won't say .....now is that in fear of telling everybody they voted the wrong way ?
I think better together is the best way for me ,but I ain't Scottish .

Not that bothered either way, but it will be nice when Scottish MPs stop voting on wholly English issues! Losing a load of Labour MPs might be a bonus as well

Really hope the jocks vote YES as its a chance to get the monkey off our backs, but I must agree with the bookmakers, that they will bottle-it and vote no.

It's going to be YES YES YES!
This is not about separation or patriotism its about having Our Scotland, Our Future, in our hands.
No matter what the outcome is though, this is history in the making and I feel privileged to play a small part in it.
I certainly have never seen such activity at all the polling stations I drove past today and certainly the debate has energised the population to engage in politics like never before.

I hope you're right and the Scots go their own way. It will be much better for the UK.

Seems like its all done and dusted.........the bookies price for a YES vote has drifted out to 4\1, with a NO vote at 1\5.
Looks like the monkey stays for another 500 years.

So, if its YES then Scotland are out of the EU? They can get back in again in around 10 years time if everyone agrees so it is not too bad. But any Scots who have flown here from an English airport may have fun getting back in the EU again - after all they will no longer be EU citizens after a YES vote will they? I hear that they also want two English warships and 12 Typhoon aircraft, where are they going to find them I wonder and what are they going to do with them as English airspace will be strictly controlled to non EU air traffic!

I hope they know what it is they are voting for when they vote YES and I hope they can afford to pay for it because there will be no more monetary support from England. But what about the Union Flag - what will that look like after the YES vote? Its the little things in life that matter!!!!
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

I see no reason why the Union Flag should change. It would be expense for no reason.

Actually, I thought it should be the other way around. After all it was James 6 of Scotland who became James 1 of England - so can we have a vote to leave Scotland please.

We did ,we had a vote to give them the vote .

Just remember Scotland you have to pay your own health care bills ,your own dole money .

As I don't really eat shortbread ,eat square sausage, drink irn brew ,drink 50 shillings ,eat haggis ,I can't see no point of them being joined .

I agree go vote yes and all drink your self into a stupor and eat deep fried mars bars

Well,It's the first time I have ever read an entire thread and agreed (In principle) with every single comment!

Which ever way the vote goes,it's a great indictment that as Britishers we have a democracy where people have their say.

There are far too many places in the world at the moment where that is not the case and evil factions are imposing their will on people that just want to get on with their lives.

Philoz
i agree apart from the the evil Alex Salmond
"Patriotism the last resort of a scoundrel" reminds me of the beer hall putsch
Boswell tells us that Samuel Johnson made this famous pronouncement that patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel on the evening of April 7, 1775

At the risk of cat calls about spelling police:

Did you really mean "indictment" Philoz.? Indictment is a formal accusation of a crime!

OK Philoz, but it was hard to resist as you had been going on bit about "education" in the thread I read before this one! Actually I was trying to think what similar word you DID mean , and couldn't think of anything that sounded like "indictment"!!!!!! Nearest I could get was "to the credit of" which doesnt sound anything like.

"Losing a load of Labour MPs might be a bonus as well"
"Hope they vote yes then no more labour governments ever 51 gone at once."
Most definitely; our caring, compassionate, generous, loving lords and masters will be able to increase our pensions and benefits a hundredfold; after all, the serfs and rabble back there can earn their pittance by serving their betters until they die - they won't need it after that. Naturally, that will create even more rewards for those of us who live over here - and of course should this fair land - our little piece of heaven - be gratefully accepted into the promised caliphate, our lords and masters so far away will grieve greatly for us - and little more.....
