Garanti Bank Alsancak

Please be aware that there is a problem with the new ATM at the Alpet Petrol station- I went this morning at 11.30 to withdraw sterling. just gave a receipt for the money and my card bank but no money.We now have to wait to see if the money was deducted from our account. as this usually takes 3 days. our UK bank and Garanti can't do anything until then. Hopefully as our UK bank suggests that as the link was broken , should not have deducted the amount. We won't be using this ATM again! back to using the TEB bank in Girne

I always use Garanti atms .We bank with them so work on the principle that if I encounter a problem it will be easier to sort out.
One time only I had the same problem as you kengro, receipt and card returned no cash. Very disconcerting and worrying.
No money was taken from my account for this transaction.
I'm sure it will be the same for you so don't worry.

This happened to us last week. Money was not taken from our account. But it is a bit worrying to begin with. We will not be using that atm again.

This has happened to me a few times at the Garanti ATM, Karakum, never has the money been taken from my UK account. I have, at least once, tried the withdrawal again and it worked the second time - even though doing so would take me over the maximum daily allowance. That just proved that the original transaction hadn't gone through.

We had the same problem and were told it is when there is no sterling in the machine, our bank account showed no withdrawals so all was well.

As we had no problems whatsoever for weeks when it first started to operate, I agree there is probably no sterling in it. It needs someone to go to the large Garanti bank in Girne and report it. Surely someone is responsible for stocking up ATM's?

It's working today - 30 Sep - for Sterling as of abt 3pm

Thank you for your comments. I did report the ATM was not working at the main branch and was told that they are not responsible for the ATM's. The main office ın Lefkosa is. As yet the money hasn't been deducted from the account.
