Sorry to be informed and to let others know that Bingo Mike had passed away early this morning. I am sure members will be informed soon as to funeral arrangements. I did not meet Mike but know how much he had helped with the Bingo nights to raise money for NCCCT. May he rest in peace. Nur içinde yatsın.

Really sorry to hear this awful news.
Mike helped to raise substantial funds for the NCCCT and was also a great supporter of the Esentepe Fun Run and Ramble.
He was larger than life, had a big heart and tried to help those in need.
Committee members of the EFRAR send their condolence to his family and friends.

Was on my way to the South this morning when I heard the sad news. This is my first chance to express my deep sadness at the loss of a great friend. He helped me through my bad time and I will always remember him and be grateful that I knew him. R.I.P Mike

So sad , he was a lovely man, and a great bingo caller......he raised a lot of money for the NCCCT, and I first met him and Trig, when they were running the Soho Lounge. Larger than life.....and full of fun.
May he R.I.P. He will be greatly missed.

Mike actually died of a massive stroke, He had one already, a couple of years ago, maybe less! My only consolation is he is now at peace and will not to have to face any future suffering.

Sorry Rowan. I hav eno ide,a but please post again.
And thanks Carol, Alan and I were discussing this and thought it might be something like that. Great release for mike then - no weeks of suffering and pain but a quick exit. As my old friend Father Brian used to say 'God is good - sometimes!'.
But we will miss his chirpy comments at the coffee mornings, and I am sure the Lodge Bingo Fans will not be able to find a replacement. There is definitely only one Mike (or was).
I am sure someone will post of when the funeral arrangements are, won't they.

I first met Mike and Eileen (Trig)in 2006 when they holidayed here in the north.
When they moved over permanently they lived just up the road from us.
So sorry to hear this sad news condolences to the family in the UK .
RIP Mike, now with Eileen.

Yes I willo miss Mike at the car boot. He had a wonderful line in ladies underwear one week- set my undies draw up for life ! But having said that and joking aside, it was very fortunate that he went to meet his Maker the way he did. So much better than any suffering. My last husband went the same way, and I was assured that he knew nothing about it! So, as they say, God is good (sometimes!)
And do support the next NCCCT coffee morning, but it will be a little sad that Mike will not be on the door to greet everyone.

So sad about Mike, he was such a happy person, he will be greatly missed. It is getting really scary the number of people dying. Yes Marion, the Cancer charity coffee morning won't be the same without him.

We are very upset to hear that Mike has passed away, the very first time we went to Cyprus with the intention to live there, Mike drove us back to the airport and after that become a very good friend, we often went down the Soho Lounge, he was a very lovely man with a large heart and when we move back to Cyprus we will be very sad not to be able meet and have a chat with himxx God Bless you Mike RIP our friend, joined in love with his dear wife Trigg XX

Just to let everyone know the details of Mikes Funeral are as follows.
Tuesday , 7th October
Green Hills Cemetery, For directions see their web page
At 10.30am
Mike's children have requested that people "wear what ever they feel comfortable in on the day"
Instead of flowers they would like donations on the day to go to NCCT
They also wished to express their thanks to everyone who helped their Dad, in so many many different ways during his illness.
I will post this on the events forum as well

As most people know by now our special friend Mike sadly died from cancer last Tuesday and his funeral is this coming Tuesday. We also know that Mike lived for his animals and thought the world of them. So much so that his most important wishes and stress / worry was about what would happen to his beloved animals after he was gone.
A write up about Mike is in the Cyprus Today Newspaper (4-10-2014 if you don't know who he is.
Anyway we now have the urgent problem of finding god homes his precious pets - for Sam - a female Alsatian, Scruff a medium sized female mongrel, and a 3 month old female kitten.
It would be lovely if the dogs could be kept together but I know this would make finding homes even more difficult. Both dogs came from KAR where they were rescued having been very cruelly mistreated by previous owners. Sam still is very shy because of this but very friendly. I do recommend that she is kept as the only pet as she can be jealous of other dogs or cats on the territory - though she mothered the kittens marvelously. She will lick you when she knows you but still run away when ou go to stroke her.
Scruff is also very affectionate and not scared now thankfully.
Both dogs are approx 2+ years old.
Then there is the kitten which is a light tortoiseshell colour, short-haired.
We have put an appeal in the newspaper today but the urgency is that the landlord of Mike's house will put in a new tenant and so we have only got until after Mike's funeral on Tuesday in which to re-house them.
Naturally Mike really was stressed about them possibly ending up back at the rescue kennels as they had already spent so much time their after their trauma.
I spent last night at the house to keep them company as they are pining for him and look so forlorn that it broke my heart to leave. They were so quiet when I left when they normally bark when people come and go.
Are you able to help in any way to find homes. I cannot take them as I already have my dog and cat in an apartment!
I don't have any pictures of them because I have no camara on my phone. But we can get some taken.
My mobile number is 0533 8724531
Liz
