Have been reading about the problems with blood tests at Girne State Hospital and although not quite as traumatic I would like to warn the ladies ref. X Rays.
Had to have an X-ray recently and was absolutely disgusted by the whole experience. I followed the radiographer (?) into the X-ray room and was told to remove all metal ie: necklace and underwired bra. Decided for hygiene reasons to put blouse back on as I'm convinced that the board on the machine which you are required to press against hasn't seen an anti-backerial wipe in a long time. X-ray was taken and then radiographer (?) left the room and left the door slightly ajar - I had removed my blouse to put bra back on and two men walked into the room who were in no way medical staff - I asked them to leave but they stayed and watched me get dressed !!!! Complete madness but I just dressed and left - should have complained at the time but just wanted out. So please make sure you are wearing a bikini top with no metal wires and a plastic clasp (as this seems to be ok) and remove all necklaces before going in. Perhaps they do now have film in the cassette!!!!

How stressful an experience that was for you!

I would have screamed my head off when the men walked in. They would have run out of the room.

Absolutely disgusting and what is worse, there is no-one to complain to.

Does anyone in authority care?

I am sure there are people who care and who would have responded, IF THEY HAD BEEN TOLD. By not reporting this incident you have allowed the two men to get away with it.


You are not 'rocking the boat' if you report such incidents, my TC hubby says you should have spoken to security at the hospital or the nearest doctor, he assures me that a Cypriot woman would, as suehowlittle, suggested, have 'screamed the place down' and the men would have been severely dealt with, probably without the need to call the police

If you, ever again, find your self in an uncomfortable situation like that. Scream and shout. Use the word Imdad, meaning 'help'. Surely somebody will come running.
