Fridge freezer just seems warm inside

We've got an Ariston upright fridge freezer, its quite a good quality unit and although its almost 4 years old, it's only had about 3 months total use.

This afternoon we noticed everything was warm inside and tried adjusting the controls etc. but to no avail.

Has anybody had a similar problem with a fridge who could suggest anything or alternatively a good repair man who can fix it.

Any assistance will be much appreciated.

I have a american style fridge freezer.
Freezer on the left, fridge on the the right, Samsung.
Again aware that the fridge was not as cold as it should be.
What it turned out to be was the auto defrost system.
Sounds complicated but it was easy to resolve.
In the good old days with our little fridge we had to manual defrost them.
Today that is done automatically.
The cold part of the fridge is the evaporator coils hidden behind a panel.
When the coil starts to ice up a defrost heateter (electrical ) kicks in, defrosting the coil.
The element on mine was goosed.
Iced up, no cold air flow.
Stripped it down, defrost with a hair dryer, ordered part from u.k.
Cold beer again, fantastic.
If your freezer and fridge are running hot then it could be a faulty stat,compressor or a loss of refrigerant gas.
But, in my case, freezer o.k. fridge warm.

We had a similar problem to that and it turned out that the fan wasn't working. Arcelik sorted it out easily and quickly.

Our Mum had a similar problem (before we came here) and it was the fan --- then the door seal --then simply over iced and needed defrosting - then the capacitor . All happened 1 after the other over a 2 year period. Arcelik did all of the repairs at a very good price. No other problems for the last 5 years.
They did tell her that she should not leave the fridge/freezer plugged in/switched on if she is away due to power cuts and the possibility of surges.

We have just had the same problem with our Ariston after only 18 months but only used for 12 months as we were in Turkey.
Your first contact is the main dealer ( Importer ) in Lefcosia. We bought from a shop in Girne that closed but they were only sales agents for this company.
The name of the company is GAYEM, their number is 2256555 the chap is called Serkan, but he has limited English the cheif engineer speaks good English.
The showroom and head office are easy to find, go to Lefcosia from Girne to the roundabout, turn left and drive to and past the next roundabout at the stadium, about 500 mtr you turn left into the industrial estate then first right so you are following the main road, about 200 mtrs you will see a sign with pioneer this is the place, it does not look like a show room, just ask for Serkan he will help you and they have the correct repair engineers.
I hope this helps as we felt that a fridge freezer should last at least 15 years.
In Europe the guarentee is for 5 years but here it is 12 months. Just for interest a new compressor for mine costs 450 TL but we didn't need one.

If the Freezer section is working but the fridge section is warm on systems where the cooling unit is on the freezer and cold air is blown to keep the fridge cool the problem is often that the air intake for cooled air to be blown up to the fridge is blocked with fluff.... so make sure the rear of the unit is clear of anything that would prevent the air intake from working

I'm having a similar sort of problem i.e. the freezer part at the top of our 10 year old Bosch is no longer frost free. I have to de frost it about every 6 weeks. No problem at all with the bottom fridge section. Not sure if its reaching the end of its natural life. Lord only know what you do in this country with redundant equipment this size?

Hi Sophie, re my earlier post.
Your problem is probably a faulty defrost coil.
This sits in front of the evaporator ( the kit that makes the fridge cold with normally the aid of a fan) and switches on to defrost the the evaporator.
It could be a faulty fan also.
Please utube your problem.
Mine was easily resolved at minimum cost.
My beer has got to be cold.

CC, we can buy fridges and freezers in every make, shape, size or colour you can think of. We start to have problems when all is not as it should be.

I cannot praise enough the repair teams and after sales service from both Arcelik and Halos in Karakum.
Recently had an electrical fire in the ceiling fan that shorted the system taking out all of our electrical white goods and one air con unit.
Halos took memory boards away the next day and had them repaired and replaced in the fridge/freezer and cooker the following day. Arcelik took the dishwasher and repaired it free of charge as it was still under warranty. Velhi mended the air con the day after the fire.
Where else would you get service as quick and efficient as that?
Hopefully whoever you call out for your fridge problem will be just as efficient.

I rang a man called Tuna, very helpful and although my fridge couldn't be repaired because of the holidays his workers took my fridge away and collected another fridge I had in lapta. brought it to edremit and spent almost 2 hours helping me and drove a fair distance moving fridges back and forth etc.

charged a very reasonable price only £40 which was a bargain.

Hi it's most likely too late for you now but it sounds like your auto defrost is stuck on. This is in the top of the unit. Try leaving it switched off for 24 hours and then switch back on it normally clears it.
